    The job of the Floorhand is to safely and efficiently perform all manual labor tasks on the drilling rig under the direct supervision of the Driller or, in his absence, the Assistant Driller. This includes the operating of the tongs, slips and pipe spinners to connect and disconnect drill pipe, tubular and drilling bits or tools as well as performing all maintenance of the equipment of the rig.  It further includes rig up and rig down procedures, nipple up and down and care of the B.O.P. system, the monitoring and operation of the shakers and when called up to do so, to assist the Derrick Hand within the mud pit, mud pump and chemical sack rooms. The Floorhand is responsible for the housekeeping activities on the drill floor including washing, chipping and painting. When trained, the Floorhand will provide relief for the Derrick hand.




    This position reports to the Driller on tour, however, the Floorhand ultimately reports to the Tool Pusher and/or Rig manager on location.





    • Physical ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor
    • Ability to read, write and speak English to the extent that they are able to understand verbal and written instructions as well as able to give verbal and written instructions
    • An understanding and use of the basic management concepts and principles including delegation, motivation, discipline, goal setting and performance evaluation
    • A thorough knowledge of the oil field service related equipment, materials, terminology and the maintenance of the same
    • A working knowledge of the purpose, capability and limitations of the equipment associated with their assigned area
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.





    • Position requires standing, walking, and sitting, while working either indoors or outdoors
    • While performing this job, the Floorhand will be required to lift and carry, pull/push, reach, squat, kneel and or climb ladders or stairs
    • Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions. This may include chemicals, gases, cold/heat, noise, dampness, dust, fumes, radiation and heights. Exposure to the above conditions should be handled as prescribed in the Felderhoff Drillings HSE Handbook and/or the Felderhoff Drillings Standard Operating Procedures
    • Other requirements include mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local, State and Federal regulations and requirements
    • This position requires the ability and willingness to wear the following personal protective equipment and/or safety equipment to including, but not limited to; safety glasses, face shields, goggles, ear muffs/plugs, steel toe boots, hard hat, full body harness with applicable fall protection devices, SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), H2S detectors, slicker or TYVEK chemical suit and gloves, FRC (Fire Retardant Clothing)



    • Passing the company’s drug screening process
